Course Overview
The Advanced Diver Course consists of the following elements:
The course has relatively few 'formal' practical lessons and is much more heavily based on a further structured broadening of experience in a wide range of conditions.

Advanced Diver - Open Water Dives
- DIVING AND RESCUE SKILLS REVIEW
- Emergency procedures including self rescue and surface assistance to a buddy
- RESCUE SKILLS AND MANAGEMENT REVIEW
- Rescue an unconscious diver from depth< br/> Surface management of a similar rescue
- EXPEDITION PLANNING
- Use available sources of information to select dives sites in areas unknown to the Branch/School
- DIVE PLANNING AND MARSHALLING
- Act as Dive Marshal for diving at sites unknown to the Branch/School involving multi-day diving at locations remote from the Branch's/School's normal area of operation

Diving Experience
- Have experience of a range different diving conditions during 20 dives totalling a minimum of 600 mins in water time since qualifying as a Dive Leader
- Have experience of acting as Dive Leader
- Have experience of diving from boats
- Have experience of acting as a Dive Marshal at a range of sites including some unknown to the Branch/School
- Have experience of depths exceeding 30m
