Basic Dive Shop Airfill Panel 1

Basic Dive Shop Airfill Panel

The measurements of this panel are 500mm x 500mm x 150mm with pipe entries at the top of the panel. One for the air supply from the compressor and one for each of the storage bank systems. There is two for this panel. There are two fill hoses, one Din and One Yoke.

A pressure relief valve is connected to the panel and set at 240 bar, for pressures above or below this a regulator will need to be added, for which provision has been made in the manufacture of the panel. The pressure relief valve can then be deleted.

Refer to the attached sketch for panel layout and airflow schematic.

Description Of Operation

The air supply from the compressor enters the panel and can be directed to any individual or combination of 3 locations.

  1. To the direct fill valve from the compressor, this by passes the storage banks allowing direct filling or topping up of scuba cylinders when bank pressures are low.
  2. To bank 1 fill valve to fill bank 1. This bank should consist of a minimum of 2 storage cylinders. Banks can be used for filling cylinders while being filled by the compressor.
  3. To bank 2 fill valve. This bank should have a minimum of 1 cylinder, always less than bank 1, as this is the bank that is easiest to maintain high pressure. For example, high pressure top up's.

If storage banks are not available the inlet pipes can simply be capped.

Principle Of Operation

Start with full storage banks, when doing multiple fills start compressor to maintain bank pressure as high as possible.

Individual fills can easily be completed without starting the compressor.

Fill from bank 1 first then top up with bank 2 as required. If the compressor cannot maintain maximum fill pressure in bank 2 use direct fill valve from compressor.
Note: Bank 1 & 2 fill valves will need to be closed when filling direct.

Use compressor to keep bank 2 pressure high. This is the reason bank 2 should always have less storage cylinders than bank 1. Bank 2 high pressure is easier to maintain.

Basic Dive Shop Panel 2
With Nitrox Capability

Basic Dive Shop Panel With Nitrox Capability

This consists of the previously described panel with the addition of:

  • Nitrox fill valve.
  • Female Bullnose connector.
  • Panel mounted filter series 45.
  • Check valve.
  • An O2 fill whip is also required with this option.

These are available separately and consist of:

  • A male Bullnose connector to fit O2 cylinder valves and the female Bullnose fitting on panel.
  • O2 compatible needle valve for precision control.
  • Check valve.
  • Two meters of Synflex hose with connectors.
  • Adaptor block with bleed and din connector.
  • 100mm x 300 bar oxygen compatible gauge with 5 bar increments.

Description Of Operation

  • Same as panel the 1.
  • For nitrox fills connect fill whip to O2 cylinder and scuba cylinder. Fill with required amount of O2.
  • Drain fill whip then disconnect bullnose fitting from O2 cylinder and connect to female bullnose fitting on Fill panel. Open nitrox fill valve on panel and use needle valve on Fill whip to fill cylinder and whip gauge to measure pressure.
  • Advantages.
  • All air is filtered immediately before entering cylinders via the panel mounted filter.
  • The internally mounted check valve prevents possibly contaminated air from scuba cylinders entering the nitrox delivery line.
  • The whip check valve prevents O2 entering the panel.
  • The whip valve gives maximum fill control.
  • The whip gauge is used for O2 and final fill pressure.
  • Provision for a fill regulator is also allowed for on this panel and is highly recommended.

Panel 3 For Larger, Busier Dive Shops

Large Dive Shop Airfill Panel

  • This panel measures 750mm x 750mm 150mm.
  • Includes allowance for three separate air storage systems and direct connected O2.
  • Refer to attached sketch.
  • The fill whip and panel mounted female bullnose fitting are not required.
  • The panel mounted filter is a larger series 50 type.
  • The regulator is standard.

In addition to panel 1 this panel includes:-

  • Additional storage bank gauge and two valves.
  • Fill regulator.
  • Series 50 panel mounted filter column.
  • Three O2 cylinder pressure gauges 63mm.
  • Five needle valves.
  • Five check valves.
  • Two Din nitrox fill whips.
  • 100mm O2 fill gauge.
  • 3 x O2 hoses ordered to length and cylinder bullnose fittings.
