Not familiar with diving in Melbourne, or don't have a buddy available and really want to get in the water for a dive? Then this PADI Discover Local Diving experience is the way to organise to have your own PADI Professional in the water with you guiding you around a local shore dive site and making sure you are safe in the water of an unfamiliar area.
A PADI professional guide will acquaint you with one of the local shore dives here on the Mornington Peninsula (e.g. Blairgowrie Pier or Rye Pier), so that you feel more comfortable in the local underwater environment after your dive.
A guided dive is for divers of all levels, designed to assist you with applying what you know about Scuba Diving and apply this to the local environment via a fun, relaxed dive.
The PADI Discover Local Diving Dive includes a PADI Professional supervised dive in an area (normally a local pier) on the Mornington Peninsula.
The Fun Part
You'll be doing an open water dive in the pristine waters of one of Melbourne’s Mornington Peninsula shore sites with no more than 4 people per guide.
Gain knowledge of one of our local dive sites to improve your diving ability at the site with a professional diver.
Your dive can be booked to suit your date requirements and once we have confirmed your booking date we guarantee it will run (weather permitting) with just one person (you). This means there are never any cancellations due to minimum numbers not being met.
Guided dives start with meeting your Professional Guide at the shop at 10:00 a.m. on the morning of your selected date and normally are finished by 12:00 p.m. for a single dive or 1:30 p.m. for a 2 dive guided experience at Rye Pier or Blairgowrie Pier. Travelling to Flinders Pier, Portsea Pier or Mornington Pier will extend these times and additional costs will be incurred, please see our Weedy Seadragon Flinders option under Guided Dives for Flinders prices, or contact the shop for Mornington and Portsea additional costs.

Please Note: During the month of June we offer Guided Dives to see the Giant Spider Crab Aggregation. Once a year they gather in their thousands to moult their hard outer shells. They need to moult to grow bigger. Their new soft skin makes them vulnerable to predators such as rays, seals and birds, so they band together in a large numbers to stay safe. The aggregation will return in June 2020.
