Victorian Dive & Snorkelling Sites

Victorian Dive and Snorkelling Sites

Over recent months Lloyd Borrett has been updating the details about the 340 plus diving and snorkelling sites in Victoria we have available online. More sites, better organised, with more information, pictures and videos. There is something for everyone!

Dive Sites

Please visit Melbourne Dive Sites for an overview of the pier, shore, wreck, bommie, drift, reef, and wall dives available. We also have some new categories for those who like to bring home a feed from a dive.

Arguably the best diving and snorkelling in Victoria is down at The Prom. Please take a look at our new page Wilsons Promontory Dives for a growing list of the sites available. They are well worth a visit.

Snorkelling Sites

For an index to the sites suitable for snorkelling, please see Melbourne Snorkelling Sites.

Boat Diving

Even the Victorian Fisheries Authority thinks our web page on Boat Diving Safety is worth a read. They link to it in their article on 'Diving Safety 101' in the latest Fish eFacts Newsletter.

In the true spirit of making it easy to obtain, utilise and share the information for non-commercial purposes, you can Download/view the Scuba Doctor Dive Map GPS Marks (KML file | 238 KB) in the Keyhole Markup Language (KML) file format used to display geographic data in an Earth browser such as Google Earth and Google Maps. Some marine GPS units can import the information from a KML file. For others you can use a file translate program (e.g. GPSBabel) to convert the KML file into an import file format (e.g. GPX) supported by your GPS unit.

Back in April 2013, Parks Victoria published a KML file containing the geographic mapping data for all of the Victorian Parks and Conservation Reserves. We've taken that file and removed everything except for the Marine Protected Areas (marine national parks and marine sanctuaries), Piers, and Jetties. With this information loaded into your dive boat GPS unit you'll know if you're in a protected area, or not. Download/view the Victorian Marine Protected Areas Piers and Jetties April 2013 (KML file | 610 KB).

Other Stuff

Each dive site now has its own unique web page. Plus we have an index to all of them, see Dive Sites.

We hope this Victorian diving and snorkelling site information helps you. If there is a site missing you think should be added, please provide us with the details and we'll look into adding it. If you spot any mistakes, or have content, updates or suggestions to improve this resource, please let us know. We appreciate all feedback.

Cheers, The Scuba Doctor team.
