Night dive, Popes Eye or South Channel Fort ?

just a prelim - would anyone be interested in doing a night dive out at popes or the fort at some stage in the future ?

would be looking at this as a build-up to a 'dusk dive' on something like the 26m sub....

would need to be at least Adv OW with a good torch and no fear of the dark ?!

Would love to do a night'y at the Pope's Eye, ??? don't understand why you would limit it to Adv OW. 26m sub yes i understand that, but Pope's Eye???.

limited it to AOW because i dont want to take people who are straight out of training. If people with OW can demonstrate to me sufficient experience, then no problems.

Hi Andy, sorry work has called me back on (BUGGER), can't manage weekend dive till May, off 3rd/8th_24th/29th, June 14th/19th, July5th/10th_26th/31st. So I will just have to do it some other time. PS July, hope to dive with giant cuttle fish at Whyalla. Date's not confirmed yet.

well, Tom goes on hols mid to the end of may, so we can get one nightie done beforehand and one after. So i propose that we aim for the evening of May 5th, and we organise another one for mid June.

what do people think ?

Ow yes, & I finally got my new 21w HID to bring along.

59 dives 56 something hours , last dive was a night drift out from pt franklin to portsea shore via the reefs, done a few other night dives, drift dives, got to do a scallop dive with G2GW and Crazysan recently, did a night dive with Edwin at Sorrento and helped him with his cramp which happened around the same time we hit the pier and the strong tide!! that was a fun shallow dive . love going down to 12 - 17 meters as a regular shore dive, have been down as far as 29.3 meters on the lonnie wall and 18.3 on castle rock and also 18.7 on boarfish reef - stupid thing is im still only OW cert too! but then you can get a PADI AOW with 9 dives under their belt and not one without their instructor! which is the more advanced diver? and as to a night dive at popes eye that would be awesome, i enjoyed it as a day dive when i did my OW last year in March '06

26m J4 Sub at dusk into night... now you are talking!
I agree with only taking AOW or people experienced with night diving!
On a site like that you can't be responsible for "baby sitting!"
