The AP Diving Twinset Soft Cambands are a superb twinset camming system that holds cylinders with absolute security. The BK15-17 series Twinset Kits are designed to be used with any AP Diving / Buddy backplate (pre or post 2007). This includes Buddy Commandos, Sea Kings, Explorers, Rangers, Pioneers, Sports and Trident (including TD versions) BCDs.
The AP Diving webbing camband system has proven itself for over 30 years to be the superior system available in terms of ease of use, adjustability and cylinder security.
No Tools Required — simple to change over from the single camband that comes as standard with AP (BUDDY) BCDs to a twinset camband upgrade. Adjust and fasten the camband entirely by hand.
No Need To Wet The Bands — other brand systems require the bands to be wet before you tighten them because their webbing expands when wet and would therefore loosen during the dive. AP cambands are designed with non-hygroscopic webbing and can be adjusted and tightened completely dry with the confidence of superior cylinder grip throughout the dive.
No Cylinder Boot Or Manifold Required — the twin cylinders are held in place by the separation blocks and do not require either a twin-cylinder boot or a manifold. It is the diver's choice whether they want to use a manifold, but the AP system offers the option of having a first stage on each cylinder. Held by bands at top and bottom, the twinset is held as rigidly in position as any metal-band/twin boot/manifold system.
This package consists of four special length BK3 type cam bands, one 4-slot anti-slip rubber plate, and two special separation crimping blocks. Once correctly cammed using the special separation blocks, the twin cylinders are rigidly held in position.
Three sizes available:
BK15 for 5.5" / 140mm diameter cylinders
BK16 for 7" / 178mm diameter cylinders
BK17 for 8" / 203mm diameter cylinders
It is advisable you measure your cylinders but typically:
5 and 7 litre cylinders = 5.5" / 140 mm diameter
10 litre and 12 litre cylinders = 7" / 178 mm diameter
12 litre dumpy and 15 litre cylinders = 8" / 203 mm diameter
There is a reasonable amount of leeway on the webbing band length to cater for cylinders with unusual diameters.
To convert back to a single-cylinder cam band when required is simply a question of re-threading the backpack, a job that requires no tools to complete and takes only a few minutes.
